Will your workers be based offshore?

The purpose of an offshore medical is to assess workers and provide them with the required certification to be able to undertake offshore work as per current OGUK regulations.

An offshore medical certificate is valid for two years. All offshore workers in the Oil & Gas industry are required to have periodic assessments by an OGUK approved doctor, which prove their fitness to travel and work offshore without posing a risk to themselves or to others due to a medical condition.

What do Oil & Gas medical assessments involve?

The medical assessment consists of the following tests:

• Urinalysis
• BMI calculation
• Basic vision test
• Pulse and blood pressure measurement
• Lung function test (peak flow)
• Audiogram (hearing test)
• Consultation with a doctor

As part of our standard OGUK Oil & Gas medical assessment, we can also include a bi-deltoid shoulder measurement, required by those working in the North Sea. We can provide this as either an add-on or as a stand-alone service.

Once the medical is completed, results are generally available within an hour. We also provide relevant travel medicals and vaccinations and advice for those working overseas, with same day appointments available at our London and Manchester clinics.
