Private COVID-19 vaccine boosters now available from Doctorcall.

Previously, COVID vaccinations were exclusively accessible through the NHS. Recent changes to the NHS eligibility criteria have resulted in fewer employees (of working age) qualifying for the COVID vaccine or booster, potentially exposing workplaces to the full effects of the virus.

At Doctorcall, we prioritise the health and well-being of our clients and their staff. We are pleased to introduce our UK-wide Private COVID-19 Vaccination Program for workplaces, aimed at providing a secure, convenient, and efficient vaccination solution for those corporates and employers concerned about the coronavirus.

Private COVID Vaccine Information

When will COVID-19 vaccines be available privately?

Doctorcall will be launching private COVID-19 vaccination program in Spring 2024. Complete the form at the top of this page to secure your date for on-site vaccination clinics.

Which private COVID vaccine will I get?

The specific vaccine you will receive may depend on availability and our vaccine offerings. Doctorcall will only provide authorised and effective COVID-19 vaccines from companies such as Novavax, Pfizer and Moderna.  Most people can have any of them, but check with us if you are under 18 or over 75. Stay informed about the available options as we get closer to the program’s launch in Spring 2024.

How much will the private COVID Vaccine cost?

Doctorcall offers private COVID-19 vaccinations for £90 per vaccine (Please note that there is a minimum order requirement of 10 vaccines).

Who is eligible for a private COVID-19 Vaccine?

At Doctorcall, we aim to make our private COVID-19 vaccine accessible to as many individuals as possible. Eligibility for our vaccine will depend on the specific vaccine available, but as a general guideline, we plan to offer vaccination to everyone aged 12 and above.

Please note that eligibility criteria may be subject to change based on vaccine availability, regulatory approvals, and public health guidelines.

Can I get a COVID vaccine outside the NHS?

Until recently, the only way for obtaining COVID vaccinations was through the NHS. However, starting from Spring 2024, private COVID-19 vaccinations will be available in the UK. Our primary focus is on making healthcare as accessible as possible, and as part of this commitment, we are pleased to offer the option to pre-book your private COVID vaccine with us.

Are there any potential side effects or risks associated with Private COVID vaccines?

Like any medical intervention, COVID-19 vaccines can have side effects. The majority of side effects are mild and temporary, reflecting the body’s natural response to the vaccine as it builds protection. Common side effects include:

  • Pain or swelling at the injection site
  • fatigue
  • Headache
  • Muscle or joint pain
  • ChillsFever
  • Feeling unwell
  • Swollen lymph nodes

These side effects typically occur within a day or two after vaccination and usually resolve on their own within a few days.

However, there are some rare side effects and risks associated with COVID-19 vaccines. It’s important to note that the benefits of vaccination in preventing severe illness, hospitalisation, and death from COVID-19 generally outweigh the risks. Some of the rare side effects include:

  1. Serious Allergic Reactions: Anaphylaxis (a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction) has occurred in rare cases, but it is extremely rare.
  2. Myocarditis and Pericarditis: There have been rare reports of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) and pericarditis (inflammation of the lining around the heart) following mRNA COVID-19 vaccination, particularly in males under 30 years old. However, the benefits of vaccination in preventing COVID-19 outweigh the risks of these rare side effects.
  3. Blood Clotting Disorders: Some vaccines, such as the AstraZeneca vaccine, have been associated with rare cases of blood clotting disorders, like thrombosis. Again, these events are extremely rare, and the benefits of vaccination in preventing COVID-19 outweigh the risks.

Compared to mRNA vaccines, the Novavax booster seems to have a lower chance of causing heart problems like myocarditis or pericarditis, especially in young men, though it’s not risk-free. It also tends to have fewer side effects such as muscle fatigue and nausea in the first 48 hours after getting vaccinated.

Which variants of COVID does the vaccine cover?

We will be offering the updated Novavax jab, which targets the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron XBB subvariants. (XBB.1.5, XBB.1.16 and XBB.2.3). The same ones targeted by Moderna’s and Pfizer’s updated jabs.

How long does COVID immunity last?

This depends on several factors, including vaccination status, prior infection, variants of the virus, and individual immune responses. Studies have shown that immunity from vaccination or natural infection can wane over time, but booster shots can help enhance and extend protection.

Can I get a vaccine if I have a health condition?

Yes, individuals with existing health conditions can typically receive the COVID-19 vaccine. However, it’s essential to consult with your healthcare provider before getting vaccinated, especially if you have concerns or questions about how the vaccine may interact with your specific health condition or any medications you’re taking. Your healthcare provider can provide personalised guidance based on your medical history and current health status.
