    2. Tell us who needs help

    4. Your GP comes to you

Your GP visits you at home, carries out an assessment and treatment, and arranges any prescriptions, referrals or follow-up that may be needed.

What to Expect From Your Doctorcall GP Home Visit in Barking

    • A GP visit in your own space

Your private GP visits you at home, in your hotel or workplace in Barking, so you can be seen in a calm, familiar setting without travel or waiting rooms.

    • A thorough medical assessment

Your GP takes time to understand your symptoms, medical history and concerns, followed by a focused examination. Care is never rushed and decisions are explained clearly.

    • Treatment on the day

Our visiting doctors carry commonly needed medication, allowing treatment to begin during the home visit where appropriate.

    • Tests and referrals arranged quickly

Blood tests, referrals and further investigations can be arranged without delay. Your GP explains next steps, timelines and any associated costs.

    • Clear advice before the doctor leaves

You receive practical guidance on what to expect next, how to manage symptoms at home, and when to seek further help if things change.

    • Follow-up support when needed

If further care is required, your Doctorcall GP can arrange follow-up appointments, referrals or remote consultations to ensure continuity of care.

    Visiting doctor FAQ

How long will it take for a doctor to arrive?

Our rapid-response 24-hour private GP visiting doctor service is designed to get an experienced GP to you as soon as possible. The time it takes depends on whether members are waiting to be seen and prevailing traffic conditions. You will be given an estimated time of arrival for the doctor when you book your visit but usually, you can be seen within a few hours.

    How qualified are your doctors?

They are all appropriately qualified and experienced to work in both the NHS and in private medical practices/the independent healthcare sector and are registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).

    Can you provide medicines?

We are a “dispensing practice” and provide an electronic prescription as well as paper prescriptions that can be fulfilled at local pharmacies. In most cases face to face appointments the doctor can dispense immediate medication. Alternatively, we have access to extended-hours pharmacies who can dispense pharmacy supplies.

    Can you make referrals?

If you need to be referred for hospital or specialist treatment, we can refer you to either a private or NHS hospital and using our network of the top specialists we can arrange private appointments with the leading specialists at short notice. A good and efficient referral to the right specialist or medical unit can make a huge difference to your medical outcome.

How long have you been operating a private GP visiting service?

Doctorcall’s has a remarkable history, being the first of its kind when it was established in 1989. Since then, it has grown to become the largest, longest-established, and best-known private 24-hour visiting doctor service in the UK. With a dedicated team of GPs, Doctorcall brings healthcare directly to patients’ doorsteps, offering prompt and convenient medical care whenever it’s needed. The round-the-clock availability of their 24-hour visiting doctor service ensures that patients have access to professional medical attention at any time, providing peace of mind and promoting overall well-being.

    What treatments can you offer?

Our team of GPs provide urgent doctor medical care, convenient medical advice and second opinions. We are experienced in holistic treatment, taking into account the special circumstances and needs of our patients.

Can you take blood samples for testing?

In many cases the GP or doctor can take a blood sample on the visit and have it tested in our lab with results often available within 24-hours.

    What locations can you visit?

We can visit you throughout London and indeed generally as far as the M25, whether it be your home, office or hotel room. Alternatively, we can provide a video or telephone consultation.

Can you provide out-of-hours cover for private doctors?

We provide 24/7 medical cover in London for the many private doctor practices, clinics and hospitals. Our first-ever home visit in 1989 was on behalf of a private doctor. For many of the Out-of-hours cover enables private GPs or doctors and clinics to offer their patients access to round-the-clock care. We provide practices with a dedicated telephone line, and we provide medical reports to your doctor.
